Pretty Kirstie Logan, 20, was stunned when her palomino pony Chicken Pie galloped at her after being spooked by a tractor.

The current Miss Coventry was out in the field with her horse last Thursday afternoon when she was struck head-on and stamped on by the huge mare.

A friend who saw the horrific accident dialled 999 and Kirstie was rushed to hospital where doctors told her she was lucky to be alive.

Incredibly, Kirstie – who suffered eight fractures to her wrist, elbow, hand and coccyx – was allowed home the next day.

She also broke three ribs, popped cartilage in her knee, tore ligaments in her back and her liver and suffered an enlarged kidney.

The stunning brunette is now recovering at home in Allesley, Coventry, after being discharged from Coventry University Hospital.

She said: ”I was just walking down the field and Chicken Pie came running towards me. She had been spooked by a tractor and galloped sideways at me.

”She took me with her and I went under her feet. I was under her for about ten seconds – I just remember all these legs in my face.

”I was so lucky I didn’t have brain damage or break my neck. At the hospital they were saying they couldn’t believe I was still in one piece.”

Kristie amazed pals when she beat hundreds of other hopefuls to be crowned Miss Coventry earlier this year.

The singer-songwriter entered the Miss England beauty pageant and came 14th out of 60 girls.

Kirstie, who is registered disabled after being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when she was 16, has ridden horses since she was a child.

But the accident has left Kirstie so shaken that has considered hanging up her riding boots.

She said: ”Everyone knows me as Kirstie and Chicken Pie. She’s very gentle with me normally but I think it’s just the tractor that spooked her.

”I’m in a sling, I can’t wear heels and I’m just battered and bruised. I’m now considering selling Chicken Pie and giving up riding altogether.

”I’m a bit more than just a beauty queen and I want to start raising money for charity with my talent.”
