It has been more than three weeks since the leak was first reported - and it still remains gushing water

Severn Trent has issued a statement as a huge leak continues to swamp a road in Nuneaton. As we reported in our newsletter, the ongoing situation in Atherstone Road is so bad that residents dubbed it the 'Hartshill Washing Wheel'.

The leak, which locals said is spilling 'five litres of water a minute', is continuing to gush water out onto the road, with no sign of it being repaired. Temporary traffic lights remain in place close to what is known locally as 'Clock Hill' bridge.

This is causing continuous traffic delays combined with other emergency roadworks close to the nearby Dobbie's Garden Centre. CoventryLive asked Severn Trent why the leak has yet to be fixed - more than three weeks since it was first reported.

A spokesman said that they are still trying to find the source of the issue - and whether it is on private or public land. In a statement, Steve Ashcroft, Customer Team Manager from Severn Trent, said: “We understand and share the concern about the ongoing water leak and would like to reassure everybody that we are doing everything possible to identify the source of the issue and determine if it’s coming from our network or a private service pipe.

"Due to the complexity of the network in the area, identifying the source of the leak is proving challenging and complex. If it is from the Severn Trent network, we’ll fix it as quickly as possible, and if it’s the service pipe we’ll support the landowner.

"We have been in regular contact with the customer directly affected, and our teams onsite have been speaking to members of the local community. We will endeavour to provide updates to ensure residents in Hartshill are kept informed of the situation.

"We’re working hard to resolve this complex issue to get everything back to normal and would like to thank everyone for their patience."

Translation...

A spokesman said: "We really couldn't care less as we have a monopoly and intend raising our prices next year to increase our already immoral profits from you mugs!"
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
