The removal of the peacocks in Bedworth has split the community

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has confirmed it has received 'a number of complaints' over peacocks who made their home on a Bedworth cul-de-sac. In a statement provided to CoventryLive, the Town Hall says that some of the issues raised date back more than two years.

The council and Warwickshire Police's rural crime team, alongside a trained gamekeeper, yesterday (June 7) tried to capture peacock Reggie and peahens Rosie and Ruby on Glenwood Gardens. One of them, Ruby, was caught and has been re-homed on an estate nearby. The authorities have said that they are taking action after concerns were raised about the noise and the damage the three birds have caused.

But this has divided the community, with supporters of the birds left devastated that they are being made to say goodbye, and even setting up an online petition to save them. But those who say they have been suffering as a result of the birds have welcomed it, saying that the birds need to be protected and need to be on a large estate where they can roam safely and freely.

In the statement, a spokesperson for the borough council explained: "The borough council has received a number of complaints from a number of people going back over more than two years detailing instances of noise in the early hours caused by the peacocks as well as faeces and concerns about their safety due to traffic in particular.

“Peacocks aren’t naturally found in the wild in the UK and they are not best suited to urban environments. We have been working with Warwickshire Police for some time to try and identify the most appropriate action to be taken in light of these complaints, and that’s how it was decided that the best thing to do was relocating the birds to a more appropriate setting."

What has this got to do with the police? Haven't they got 'police' things to do? You know, like catching criminals? :fuming:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
