Well-known Coventry chippy to close for two weeks

Gabriel's will close as of Monday, August 15



A popular Coventry chippy will be closing next week while changes are made. Gabriel's on the Earlsdon high street will turn off its fryers on Monday (August 15) for 11 days.

The closure comes after the fish and chip shop decided to change ownership. The new owners will take over next week but won't reopen until Friday, August 26.

It was announced on Wednesday (August 10) on the restaurant's new Facebook page. The new management said: "Once we have reopened, I would like to welcome you all.

"I hope you can continue you support of your local chippy as you have done so over the past many years. Excited to see you very soon."

Jayne Linstead commented: "Thank you for 30+ years of your fish and chips. Happy retirement and welcome to the new owners. Look forward to many more fish and chip suppers."

Shirley Victoria Burman added: "Thank you for years of lovely fish and chips will miss regular faces thanks again." While Jane Doran said: "Thank you for years of fish and chips. Good luck in the future."

The last two chippies in Earlsdon which "changed owners" (The Butts and Broomfield Road) never reopened again!

Spon End Fish Bar was closed this evening!
I assume it was because of the heat? I just hope it reopens again.
