Police have released a statement after a customer who was refused a drink at a Coventry pub took revenge by smashing the windows. The incident happened at the popular Mount Pleasant pub in Walsgrave on Thursday (August 11).

The suspect left the pub, on the corner of Hinckley Road and Brade Drive, after being refused service, but then smashed several windows and glass from several doors. Luckily no-one was injured.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We're investigating after a man threatened staff and smashed windows at a pub on Hinckley Road, Coventry, around 10pm on August 11. A small bag of cannabis was recovered, which is believed to have belonged to the suspect.

"We're retrieving CCTV footage, assessing forensic opportunities and speaking to potential witnesses. We'd ask anyone with any information, who has not yet spoken to officers, to get in contact."

A spokesman for Greene King, the chain behind the Mount Pleasant, said: "We have been informed that the team refused service to a member of the public last night who subsequently smashed some windows on leaving the premises. No one else was involved or hurt."
