Three workers at a popular Coventry bar were attacked while working this weekend. The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday (July 16) at The Yard in the city centre.

Management from the bar, one of Coventry's most prominent gay venues, have described the incident as "calculated and unprovoked". The staff who were attacked, a woman and two men, are part of The Yard's security team.

The victims suffered facial injuries in the assault. Police were called to the scene and are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

The Yard's management said in a statement: "Last Friday night, three members of our security team were attacked in an incident involving three individuals leaving The Yard. It was a calculated and unprovoked attack aimed at members of our security team, who are there to ensure the safety of all visitors, staff and their colleagues.

"Each member of our security team is invaluable to The Yard and the safe atmosphere it creates for our visitors, and help enforce our zero-tolerance policy to any and all forms of abuse. We pride ourselves on being among the safest nightlife venues in Coventry in great part due to the hard work of our outstanding door team.

"The Yard alongside Semper Security are supporting those affected and will support WMP's investigation into the incident however we can."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called following disorder in Bull Yard, Coventry, at around 2.30am on Saturday (July 16). Three pub door staff - two men and a woman - sustained facial injuries after being assaulted. Anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat on our website and quote 20/645441/22."
