Police have confirmed what happened to a Coventry woman who suffered serious injuries and woke up underneath a car. Susan Tiley, 62, was waiting for a taxi along Moor Street, Earlsdon at around 10.55pm on Saturday, July 9.

She lost all memory of what happened next, but found herself under a car with her head just inches from the wheel. Some people nearby helped pull her out from underneath the vehicle.

Susan was rushed to hospital, sustaining severe injuries. She suffered several fractured, a broken collar bone, a dislocated shoulder and a black eye.

Susan told CoventryLive: "I was along Moor Street waiting for a taxi. I can't remember much else but my husband said I was under the car, with my head inches from the wheel.

"I believe a crowd gathered and I was pulled from underneath and taken to hospital. I would like to see CCTV if possible. I can't remember much about it so evidence of what happened would put my mind at ease."

Susan and her family believed she was a victim of a hit and run because of the significance of her injuries. However, West Midlands Police have confirmed that Susan tripped and hit her head on the floor, causing her to fall unconscious and lost memory of what had happened.

Susan's son-in-law, Stuart Price, said: "Police have basically said they’ve checked CCTV and the witness’ story checks outs, so she did just fall against a parked car. But the injuries she got are still mad for what actually happened."
