Free parking in council car parks across Nuneaton and Bedworth is coming to an end.

As of Tuesday (February 1) people will have to pay to use car parks again.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council waived all charges throughout December and into January to help businesses and shoppers.

But, after January 31, people will have to pay again.

The Town Hall says that it will cost £1 for three hours parking, with previous charges coming into force for those who opt to park for longer.

But further changes could be made as the council has said that a review of car parking charges across the borough is due to take place.

In a statement, Town Hall leader, councillor Kris Wilson, said: "As a new administration we pledged to do all that we can to support our town centres to remain vibrant and to help them during the pandemic recovery.

"This action proves that, yet again, we are keeping our promises to the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth.

“We are continuing to offer reduced rate car parking charges and are determined to ensure our charges stay competitive.

“Businesses have been massively affected by the pandemic and we are committed to doing all we can to help them, as well as encourage shoppers to return to our town centres."
