Residents have raised concerns about a road in Coventry they say is being used a race track.

Grange Road in Longford is a residential street which in recent years has been plagued by reckless drivers.

One resident, who's parked van has been hit twice in less than a year, says something has to be done to tackle the issue before someone is killed.

The road already has speed bumps and a roundabout, but many feel these measure are ineffective.

Stuart McDonald has contacted his local councillors and is now planning a petition in the hope something can be done to curb speeding.

He told CoventryLive: "This isn't the first time my van's been hit - there was an RTC (road traffic collision) in lockdown last year.

"A lot of the residents are fed up with the constant speeding. They use the road as a race track, not even stopping at Jackers Road roundabout.

"Speed bumps do nothing - they just go over them. I thought of 20 mph limit all way through Grange Road, Oakmoor Road, Jackers Road and average speed cameras - it really needs addressing now before someone gets killed."

Another resident, who asked to remain anonymous, added: "The road is very narrow in places, particularly towards the Greyhound end, between the bridges, so people speeding is dangerous for drivers.

"But there are also sections, for instance opposite Foxford School, where the path is very narrow too which can make it difficult, especially if you have kids and a pushchair.

"Doing the school run can be a nightmare at times. And the people speeding just make it that bit more stressful."

George Duggins, councillor for the area and leader of Coventry City Council backs plans for a petition.

Cllr Duggins told CoventryLive: "We will look to be support any petition that is raised. In the meantime this issue has been drawn to the attention of the Police, and we are opposing further build for the area."

Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
