A middle-aged man has been left with serious injuries after a stabbing in Warwickshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) has confirmed that they responded to a 999 call at just after midnight this morning (September 9).

An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance critical care car were sent to the scene in Willow Drive, Warwick.

"We responded to reports of stabbing," the WMAS spokesman said.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for potentially serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital for further treatment."

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said that, as a result of the incident at 12.24am, four people have been arrested.

All four remain in custody.

The spokesman said that it was a busy night for officers after a total of seven people were arrested in connection with violent offences.

A 26-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of assault following a report of violent disorder in High Street, Rugby in the early hours of this morning.

He remains in police custody, where he is being questioned.
