The event was due to return this year at the University of Warwick
This year's Coventry's Race for Life has been cancelled.
The event, which was set to return with social distancing measures at the University of Warwick, was due to take place on October 9.
All mass participation Race for Life events were cancelled last year because of coronavirus - but there was excitement about the return of the event in Coventry.
The events are a significant opportunity for Cancer Research UK to fundraise for life-saving research.
Money raised helps Cancer Research UK to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, as the charity fights back from the impact of the pandemic.
Jane Redman, Cancer Research UK spokesperson for Warwickshire, said: “Unfortunately we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel our Race for Life and Pretty Muddy events at the University of Warwick on 9 th October.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we are no longer able to deliver a quality course and event experience on the date given and no other dates were available.
“It is really important to the charity to deliver a great experience to participants as they help to support Cancer Research UK’s mission to beat cancer. We hope everyone who has signed up will remain committed to our vital cause by taking part at another venue.
“All registered participants and volunteers have been notified of the cancellation and their place will be transferred to their preferred alternative. Anyone unable to participate elsewhere will be offered a full refund.”
