A striking new visitor centre has been unveiled outside Coventry Railway Station.
The pod, which changes colour in the sun, will be the city's new visitor and tourist centre.
The futuristic design will be the first thing that visitors see when they arrive into the city - and is certainly eye-catching.
Coventry is set to welcome crowds of visitors as we celebrate our year as UK City of Culture and the 2022 Commonwealth Games next year.
The pod is based on Station Square, which is currently undergoing major renovations as part of the Railway Station transformation works.
The £82 million masterplan will transform the station and the area around it, with the building due to be completed by September 2021.
And in the true Coventry spirit of innovation, the centre is iridescent and changes colour in the sun.
The pod's design pays homage to Coventry’s post-war use of coloured glass and are made of reflective materials that are covered in a dichroic coating.
The coating shines in different colours as light passes over and through the panels.
The pod will also be illuminated at night and will lead into Greyfriars Green, where rainbow lighting has been installed.
Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Regeneration and Climate Change at Coventry City Council and CWLEP board director, said: “This pod is fantastic and, along with the major works carried out at the station and Pool Meadow, will give visitors a fantastic first impression of our city."
