All the gear, no idea!

Policed stopped a Lamborghini supercar after it was spotted without a front number plate and discovered the driver hadn’t even passed their test.

The convertible red Lamborghini was stopped by the Coventry City Centre Police team while travelling on the Coventry Ring Road.

It was pulled up on an exit slip road where officers carried out the customary driver and vehicle checks, due to no front number plate being displayed.

It was then that officers discovered the driver only had a provisional licence.

Coventry City Centre Police tweeted about the vehicle stop and their subsequent discovery.

They posted a picture of the Lamborghini, along with a tongue-in-cheek tweet that said the driver should really have passed their driving test if they were going to drive a supercar without a number plate.

"Vehicle seized and driver reported for no insurance and fail to display number plate."

A new Lamborghini Hurracan Spyder costs from £180,000.

Lamborghini supercar pulled over by police in Coventry

Image

This Lamborghini supercar was stopped by police and the driver is now facing a fine.

Officers were conducting a speeding operation in Sky Blue Way in Coventry when they noticed the Lamborghini didn't have a front number plate - a recognised traffic offence.

The car was stopped and officers dished out a fine to the driver.

Lamborghini supercars range in price from around £150,000 to up to £3.65 million - so the driver should be able to afford the fine.

During the two-day operation, city officers stopped and fined 12 motorists for driving too fast in Sky Blue Way.

The top speed recorded was 67mph and the driver of that vehicle, a 31-year-old man, was been reported to appear in court.

A spokesman for Coventry Police said: "It’s totally unacceptable, given that Sky Blue Way is a 30-zone with two pedestrian crossings.

"We also seized a VW Golf after we found the driver wasn’t insured."
