Two men were jailed after nearly derailing a 95mph (153 km/h) train by piling concrete posts and pallets on the line, police said.
Richard Hamilton, 21, and Ashley Leedham, 18, were jailed for four-and-a-half and four years respectively.
There was a 4ft-high pile in Dosthill, Tamworth, Staffordshire, in March.
Leedham, of Jubilee Court, Kingsbury, Warwickshire, and Hamilton, of Kingsbury Hall Farm in the Tamworth area pleaded guilty in June.

The pair admitted malicious obstruction of the railway with intent to endanger safety.
The incident happened late at night on 18 March when the driver of the 2309 Birmingham New Street to Nottingham service hit debris that was piled 4ft high on the line, British Transport Police (BTP) said.
About 50 passengers were on board, but nobody was injured, BTP added.
It said the driver was left extremely shaken and the train came to a halt just under half a mile from the point of impact.
Leedham also pleaded guilty to destroying or damaging property and was sentenced to three months' detention to run concurrently to the four years.
His four-year sentence imposed on Friday was minus 75 days spent on remand or electronically tagged and Hamilton's 131 days on remand count towards his four-and-a-half year sentence.
As I mentioned elsewhere at the time of their arrest, they should have been charged with attempted murder.
