West Midlands Police are appealing for help to identify the man who was found on Tuesday (16 March).

The man was discovered collapsed on St Nicholas Street, near the Canal Basin, at around 5am.

Officers and ambulance attended the scene.

After extensive enquiries, police say they are struggling to identify the man, who they describe as being black, and aged in his 40s or 50s.

He was wearing wearing navy jogging bottoms, black trainers and a black hoodie. The keys and watch pictured, were found on the man. His death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

Inspector Chris Grandison from the force response unit, said: “We really need your help to identify this man as we’ve not been able to make contact with his next of kin and loved ones.

“We’re hoping someone within the local community will know who he is. We believe that he was possibly out jogging so you may have previously seen him in the area.

“If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please get in touch.

“We’re desperately trying to establish this man’s identity so we can contact his family.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police via Live Chat on their website, or call 101, quoting log number 366 16 March.
