A mass coronavirus vaccination site to serve residents closer to home in Coventry and Warwickshire has opened.

The site at Stoneleigh NAEC in Warwickshire opened to some health and social care staff today (Monday, January 25), before opening to other priority patients on Tuesday.

It is one of 32 new sites opening their doors across the country today as the vaccination drive continues to accelerate.

The site is open for invitation only and people who do not have an appointment will be turned away.

However it is not mandatory to accept the invitation and people can wait to be jabbed at one of the seven GP-led Primary Care Networks if preferred.

The vaccination centre is located at Hall 1. People using a SatNav when driving by car are asked to use postcode CV8 2LG.

Parking is free with a total of 11,000 spaces available.

Dr Sarah Raistrick, Chair of Coventry and Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “The opening of the NAEC Stoneleigh vaccination centre is another step forward in the delivery of vaccination programme across Coventry and Warwickshire.

“Can I remind patients that this is an optional choice. They can wait to have their vaccination closer to home at a GP led site. Your surgery will contact you and our advice is not to call the NHS, wait for us to contact you.”

The site will provide a mass vaccination site much closer to home for residents in Coventry and Warwickshire residents.

Up to now, most have been invited to Birmingham’s Millenium Point, which led to complaints of a 45-minute drive for some.

Appointments at the Stoneleigh site will be staggered to allow for social distancing.
