Arrests have been made after a triple stabbing in Nuneaton.

Warwickshire Police have confirmed three people have been hospitalised with stab wounds following "disorder'" at a number of locations across the town tonight (July 15).

According to a statement, the injuries suffered by all three are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

It goes on to say that all three are also under arrest.

Police also say they believe those involved were known to each other and wider members of the public were not targeted.

However, investigations are ongoing into the incident which was first reported at 7.04pm, as police believe other people may have been involved.

Mount Street, close to the flats on Coronation Court, was blocked by the police and the entrance to nearby Pool Bank Street was also cordoned off by police tape.

Ambulances were also spotted near to the council-run flats earlier this evening (July 15).

The police statement added: "There is a large police presence in the area and an investigation is under way to identify and detain all those involved.

"Please avoid the area while police continue to manage the situation."

Reports suggest people were locked inside a town centre store during violence which broke out in Nuneaton last night.

According to a post on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Police page on Facebook, staff and members of the public locked a number of people inside the Poundland store in Queens Road while waiting for officers to arrive.

It read: "There have been reports of a large group fighting and a number of people have been stabbed.

"Reports were that three males had been seen entering pound land store. Public and staff had left and locked the doors with the three inside."

The store is understood to have opened later than usual today (July 16) as a result of last night's incident.

A note was posted in its window which read: "We will be opening late today dye to a crime that happened in store last night. Sorry for the inconvenience. Toni - store manager'.

CoventryLive contacted the store for a comment and a spokesperson for the budget retailer said: "The store closed for an hour this morning following a town centre incident. It has since re-opened."

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police confirmed that there was an initial report in that area of the town at around 7pm last night.

What happened to arrested teens after triple stabbing in Nuneaton?

Police have revealed that the investigation in to violent scenes that spread across Nuneaton town centre and left three people with stab wounds has been shelved due to a "lack of evidence".

The violence erupted almost a year ago to the day and saw a total of six people - including three injured teenagers - arrested as Warwickshire Police tried to piece together what had happened.

The first call on the evening of July 15, 2019, came from Queens Road at 7.02pm and officers were called soon after to scenes in Mount Street, Coton Road and Pool Bank Recreation Ground.

Three teenagers - a 16-year-old from Nottingham, a 17-year-old from Nuneaton and a 19-year-old, also from Nuneaton - all suffered stab wounds.

All three were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and then taken to hospital from where they were later released.

Police went on to arrest a 15-year-old from Cannock and another 16-year-old, from Nuneaton, also on suspicion of violent disorder, and a few days after a sixth boy - a 15-year-old boy from Nuneaton - became the final person arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

All six were eventually released on bail while enquiries continued.

CoventryLive contacted Warwickshire Police for an update as no news had been released since and the force has now revealed that "the investigation was filed due to lack of evidence".

No charges were ever brought against those arrested. however detectives said they would consider reopening the case "if new evidence came to light".
