Nuneaton Fire Station's open day will be back even 'bigger and better' next year.

Firefighters made the statement after announcing, with 'heavy hearts', that they have had to cancel this year's annual event.

Concerns over public safety amid the coronavirus pandemic led to the decision to cancel what is one of the biggest events in the town's calendar.

A spokesperson for Nuneaton Fire Station said: "It's with very heavy hearts that we made the decision to cancel this year's ever popular Nuneaton Fire Station Open Day.

"In order to best keep our community safe and avoid unnecessary risk in these unprecedented times, it was felt the cancellation of this event was the best option.

"We know this announcement will have disappointed many people, but save the date for next year - Saturday 4th September 2021! Nuneaton Fire Station and the wider Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank everyone for all their support over previous years and looks forward to making next year's event bigger and better."

Nuneaton Fire Station Open Day is the biggest event to be held at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service stations across Warwickshire.

It helps raise vital funds for the Firefighters Charity as well as local good causes who set-up stall at the station.
