Woman 'mugged' while withdrawing cash from ATM at Coventry Tesco

She was targeted yesterday afternoon (April 4)



Police are investigating after a woman was mugged by a masked man in Coventry. She was targeted at Tesco in Jubilee Crescent.

Officers were called after a woman had her bank card stolen while using an ATM at Tesco Express around 12.15pm. She was withdrawing money when a man approached, grabbed her card and fled.

Cash was withdrawn from the card shortly afterwards. Officers are carrying out enquiries and reviewing CCTV.

Witnesses are being urged to contact West Midlands Police. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a woman had her bank card stolen at a cashpoint in Jubilee Crescent yesterday (April 4).

“At around 12.15pm, the woman was getting cash out when she was approached by a man who took her bank card and walked off.

“Cash was withdrawn from the account shortly afterwards. We are carrying out CCTV enquiries and speaking to witnesses and would ask anyone with information to get in touch on 101, quoting crime reference 20/192672/26.”
