Aldi has issued an urgent recall for one of its steaks sold in stores over health fears.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced that the major chain will remove one of its £3.99 steaks from shelves. Aldi has pulled its Ashfields 30 Day Matured Thin Cut Beef Steaks from stores because the product contains milk, which was not listed on the label. This packaging error could have posed a health risk for people who are dairy free and lactose intolerant. Certain people who may have bought these steaks before the recall have been warned to "no eat it".

The FSA said: "This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. This is due to a packaging error."

The specific packets of steak with this packaging error are the 360g packs with a use-by date of October 26, 2025.

The FSA added: "Aldi is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

"These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it."

Shoppers who have purchased a pack of steaks that has since been recalled have been told they can get a refund for this item from Aldi.

The FCA said: "Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, please visit https://help.aldi.co.uk/s/ or call customer services on 0800 042 0800."

This comes after shoppers who have purchased a specific sweet treat from Lidl were warned not to eat it as it may contain mental fragments. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an urgent recall for the XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter, sold in 560g packages.

Items with best before dates of November 21, 2025, December 2, 2025 or December 3, 2025 are affected.

The FSA said: "Lidl is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.

"If you have bought the above product do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, please contact Lidl Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566."
