A man has been charged with attempted wounding after two people were mowed down by a car in Coventry. Callum Hyde was arrested after the incident in Daimler Green.
In the early hours of September 21, a car was driven at two women near the Daimler Green Community Centre on Highley Drive. Both were found to have sustained serious injuries.
Hyde, 37, was charged with affray, driving dangerously and two counts of attempted wounding. He appeared before Coventry Magistrates' Court last Tuesday (September 23).
Hyde is next due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on October 24. He has been remanded in custody until that hearing.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident and urged people with information to come forward. Details can be provided via 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “A man has been charged with attempted wounding after a car was deliberately driven at people in Coventry. Callum Hyde was charged and remanded following an incident near the Daimler Green Community Centre in Highley Drive on September 21.
“In the early hours of September 21, a car was driven at two women in Highley Drive. Both women were treated for their injuries, which were thankfully confirmed not to be life-threatening.
“Our investigation into the incident continues, and officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened. Anyone who was in the area at the time and has doorbell or dashcam footage showing the incident or the events leading up to it can get in touch via 101, quoting crime number 20/383535/25.”

Man appears in court after two women 'deliberately hit by car' in Coventry
A man who allegedly mowed down two women in the city has appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court. Callum Hyde was charged following an incident near the Daimler Green Community Centre.
Police arrested Hyde following an incident where two women were deliberately struck by a car on Highley Drive on September 21. Both were treated for their injuries, which were found not to be life-threatening.
Hyde, 37, was charged with driving dangerously, affray and two counts of attempted wounding. He appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on September 26.
Pleas were not entered for any of the alleged offences when Hyde appeared for his first hearing. He is set to appear again at Warwick Crown Court on October 24.
