It will be in Eastern Green
Work is underway on a new cycleway at Juniper Park in Coventry. It forms part of a major development in Eastern Green.
Coventry City Council says the new development includes new homes and employment units and is 'progressing well.' Housebuilding is underway at the site in Eastern Green.
As part of the project, a 3m-wide cycleway and a 2m-wide pedestrian walkway will be constructed. Councillor Patricia Hetherton [pictured] said the existing crossing on Woodridge Avenue will also be upgraded.
Kerbing between Parkhill Drive and Woodridge Avenue has been completed, and the final section near the Eastern Green development site boundary has been surfaced. Trees will remain unaffected.
Drainage improvements have also been completed. Cllr Hetherton said the Eastern Green site provides links for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport to neighbouring communities while ensuring that traffic enters and leaves the site from the new junction on the A45.
Project Manager Alice Bright said: “We have got a lot of stuff going on at the moment, namely a new pedestrian and cycle route through Juniper Park, which is going to be a 3m cycle track and a 2m pedestrian route. It is going to massively improve this area and allow for more accessible travel.”
Cllr Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services, added: “I am pleased to see the work continuing in Juniper Park to improve safe access for people to walk, wheel and cycle. It is all about offering more options for travel and helping to create a cleaner and greener city.”

New Coventry cycleway opens as part of major project in Eastern Green
Work on a new Coventry cycleway has been completed. It was constructed as part of a major project in Eastern Green.
Developers say the new 435m cycleway at Juniper Park links Park Hill Drive and new homes off the A45. Cars can access the new estate using the recently completed junction.
Improvements to the drainage systems on Woodridge Avenue have been completed. Nearby lighting has also been upgraded.
Trees have also been planted. Cllr Patricia Hetherton said the Eastern Green cycleway provides links for pedestrians and cyclists to neighbouring communities while ensuring traffic enters and exits via the A45.
A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “Works on the Juniper Park cycleway are designed to provide direct links for people to walk, wheel and cycle between Park Hill Drive and the new homes being built off the A45. All other traffic, including buses, will access the new housing via the A45 using the recently completed new junction.
“We have installed a 435m fully accessible pedestrian and cycle route, which was fully funded by the developer. It also enabled us to improve the pedestrian footpath, lighting and drainage as well as the crossing at Woodridge Avenue. Planting will soon be taking place to enhance and brighten the area.”
