Woman dies after Jaguar crashes into her Coventry home

An elderly woman has died after a Jaguar smashed into her property in Coventry. It happened yesterday afternoon (July 17).

Police were called to the junction of Shilton Lane and Lentons Lane at around 5pm. Officers cordoned off the vicinity after a Jaguar and a Volkswagen (VW) van had crashed.

CoventryLive previously reported that a Jaguar subsequently hit a property on Lentons Lane. A 78-year-old woman who was inside the address at the time was taken to University Hospital Coventry, where she later died.

Three others were also found injured. A second woman who was inside the Lentons Lane property and the Jaguar and VW drivers were assessed and had sustained minor injuries.

Police said the family of the deceased has been informed of the tragedy and is being supported. Both drivers were spoken to at the scene yesterday (July 17), and an investigation has been launched.

Investigators have appealed for CCTV footage as they work to establish the manner in which they were driving. Witnesses can also get in touch with West Midlands Police by calling 101.

Appealing for information today (July 18), West Midlands Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following the death of a woman after a car hit her house in Coventry yesterday (July 17). We were called to the junction of Shilton Lane and Lentons Lane just before 5pm following a collision involving a Jaguar and a VW.

“Both drivers were spoken to at the scene, and enquiries continue. We would appeal for anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or other information from the scene at around the time to get in touch with us via 101, quoting log 4184. You can also email sciu@westmidlands.police.uk.”
