Military personnel eligible for free National Express bus travel (for one day only)

Bus journeys will be free to mark Armed Forces Day tomorrow (June 28)



Military personnel can travel for free on National Express buses across Coventry. Passengers can take advantage of the offer tomorrow (Saturday, June 28).

Serving military personnel, veterans, and cadets are entitled to the Armed Forces Day offer, which is valid across Coventry, Birmingham, and the West Midlands. Services it includes are the 20 (Coventry to Bedworth) and the 3 (Arena Shopping Park to Warwickshire Shopping Park).

Anyone wanting to take up the offer has been asked to wear their uniform and present their ID to the bus driver when boarding. Bosses at National Express said the initiative reflects its 'ongoing commitment' to the Armed Forces community in Coventry.

Antony Goozee, Managing Director of National Express West Midlands, said: “We are proud to support the Armed Forces and deeply value the important role they play in protecting our country. Offering free bus travel on Armed Forces Day is our way of saying thank you to those who have served and continue to serve.”

He added: “We are also very proud to employ many veterans and current reservists across the business. At this time of year, especially, we want to recognise the significant contribution they make to our company and our communities.”

In 2012, National Express became the first public transport operator in the UK to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant. It also offers travel discounts for serving personnel, veterans, and their families across its bus and coach network through the Defence Discount Service.
