Tile Hill 'trespass' incident hits Coventry and Birmingham rail services

National Rail has warned some lines are blocked, and on some lines trains have to run at a reduced speed

A 'trespass' incident at Tile Hill has hit rail services between Coventry and Birmingham. National Rail has reported that the incident is impacting services this afternoon (Sunday, March 2).

It has posted on both its website and also on social media that rail services between Coventry and Birmingham New Street are being 'cancelled, delayed by up to 10 minutes or revised'.

"A trespass incident in the Tile Hill area means that some lines are blocked, and on some lines trains have to run at a reduced speed," the website states.

It explains that disruption is set to remain until 4pm. "Services between Coventry and Birmingham New Street may be cancelled, delayed by up to 10 minutes or revised," the website adds.

"Disruption is expected until 16:00."

Avanti West Coast customes are being advised that if their trains are cancelled their are valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before their booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

Coventry police statement after huge presence around Tile Hill railway bridge

Police have issued a statement following an incident at the railway bridge in Tile Hill. Patrol cars and officers were spotted near to Tile Hill Railway Station earlier this morning (Sunday, March 2).

As a result, train services were to Coventry station and beyond were cancelled and nearby roads were closed. West Midlands Police has, this afternoon, confirmed to CoventryLive that officers had responded to reports that a man was on the bridge.

A force spokesperson has said that the that the incident has been brought to a 'safe conclusion'. Impacted rail services will now resume.

"We were called to Tile Hill Railway Station at around 8.40am this morning (2 March) to reports of a man on a bridge," the police spokesperson said. "The matter has now been brought to a safe conclusion.

"The train line and roads effected have since re-opened."
