Road closures in Coventry have affected the bus routes this week
National Express has announced changes to bus services in Coventry this week due to road closures in the city. Longfellow Road, Holyhead Road, and Mantilla Drive will be closed for carriageway repairs, which means buses will be diverted and some stops will not be served.
This comes after residents were warned of bus fares increasing across the city on Sunday, January 5. Adults will now have to pay £2.90 instead of £2, an increase of 90p, with tickets cheaper than the Labour bus fare cap of £3.
National Express has announced that services 7 and X1, 17, 17a, and 22 will be affected. Our guide below gives the lowdown on where the buses will divert.
Holyhead Road
Holyhead Road will be closed on Friday, January 10, between 9am and 3pm each for carriageway repair works. Holyhead Road will not be served between Four Pounds Avenue and Grayswood Avenue. The alternative stopping places will be at the Alvis Retail Park and Dulverton Avenue bus stops.
Longfellow Road
Longfellow Road will be closed on Tuesday, January 7, and Wednesday, January 8, between 9:30am and 3:30pm each day for carriageway repair works. Services 17 and 17a will be diverted via Ansty Road, Walsgrave Road and Hipswell Highway. The alternative stopping places will be at Walsgrave Road at the Forum bus stops and Hipswell Highway.
Mantilla Drive
Mantilla Drive will be closed from Monday, January 6, for three weeks between 7:30am and 4pm each day. Service 22 will be diverted via Dewsbury Avenue and will not serve Mantilla Drive bus stops at Hexworthy Avenue shops, Chideok Hill, Peverall Drive, or Wade Avenue. The alternative bus stops are Leamington Road and Mantilla Drive at Baginton Road.
