Officers have closed down properties on Windmill Road and Hillmorton Road
Two suspected drug dens have been closed down in Coventry. Officers shut down two city properties after nearby residents raised concerns about anti-social behaviour and drug-dealing.
Officers from the WMP Problem Solving Team worked alongside Citizen Housing and Stonewater to secure closure orders against properties in Longford and Wood End. Neighbours are said to have shared concerns about illegal activity taking place at the properties on Windmill Road and Hillmorton Road.
Police worked with Citizen Housing and Stonewater to build their case with the orders being granted by Coventry Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 21. West Midlands Police said the closures prove that they will continue to 'take strong action against crime and anti-social behaviour.'
Chief Inspector Dave Amos, of Coventry Police, said: “We are continuing to work with our partners across the city to take action against this kind of offending. Wherever we receive intelligence, we will work through the courts to obtain closure orders and help keep our neighbourhoods safe for the people who live there.”
Head of Neighbourhood Services at Citizen Housing, Pauline McKenzie-Brown said: “Citizen takes reports of crime and anti-social behaviour very seriously and will not tolerate illegal activity in any of our homes. We work in partnership with West Midlands Police and with considerable evidence and witness impact statements we will tackle the issues that impact our customers, to make them feel safe and secure living in their home and neighbourhood.”
Helen Palmer, Customer Partner at Stonewater, added: “We have been working closely with the police and our customers at Whimbrel House to take action on the anti-social behaviour and drug dealing, and we are pleased this has led to decisive action. We would continue to urge anyone to report anti-social behaviour to the police and we will always support our customers in ensuring they have a safe place to call home.”
