He claimed it happened as he was having lunch at Gallagher Retail Park
A man has been left fuming after his £35,000 Jaguar F-Type was stolen as he was having lunch at McDonald's. It reportedly happened at Gallagher Retail Park in Coventry.
The man was on a lunch break when he claimed his keys were swiped at around 11am on Saturday, August 12. It is believed the keys were taken in a matter of seconds with the victim saying he was completely unaware that his car had been stolen until he had left the restaurant.
He was left in 'disbelief' as the culprits struck in 'broad daylight.' Speaking to CoventryLive, the man, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I was sitting there, and as I was eating I moved from one seat to another because I was on the phone and the music was right above so I could not hear properly. I think at that point I was being watched, and as I moved to the other seat my keys went missing.”
He added: “I left McDonald's to go back to work thinking I had my keys but within ten seconds of leaving the place I ran back in and said I think I have left my keys on the tray, and they are in the bin, so they emptied all the bins out, but they were not there.
“I went back out to find the car but it was missing so I went back into McDonald's and they phoned the police on my behalf because I was too shaken up to speak to them.”
He was left 'distraught' as his house and work keys were also stolen during the theft on Saturday, August 12. “It was bad enough my car being gone, but I was more concerned about my work keys because I have all the keys for going in and out of the buildings, which had to be changed on the same day,” he said.
He added: “It is a nightmare of a situation, but the thing is it happened during the daytime, that is the problem, so there needs to be something done about it because it is getting ridiculous now.”
He has now urged people to remain vigilant at Gallagher Retail Park. “It is not on. If we cannot stay safe when parking our cars in what is supposed to be a safe space, that is ridiculous,” the man said.
