A burst water main has led to queuing and congestion while repair works are carried out on a residential street in Coventry. Engineers were called to Grange Road on Thursday (July 27).

Water could be seen gushing from the burst water pipe in Longford. A section of the road has now been closed with repairs expected to be carried out today (Friday, July 28).

Engineers from Severn Trent will be on-site to carry out repair works as 'quickly as possible,' the company said. Work will likely be taking place throughout the day (July 28).

A spokesman for Severn Trent said on Thursday: “We have been notified of a burst water main on Grange Road in Coventry and our team will be on-site to make the repair as quickly as possible. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience while we complete this repair.”

It comes after a burst pipe caused a large sinkhole to open up on Sewall Highway on Monday (July 24). A car was left submerged with water seen cascading down the residential street in Wyken.

Engineers remain at the scene as they work to repair the damaged pipe which has caused significant disruption to residents as well as flooding nearby. It is understood the road will remain closed until Tuesday, August 1.

And there was disbelief when another sinkhole was reported in Curtis Road, Wyken. Homeowner Steve Guest said drains were left 'spilling over' with human waste.
