Nine people have been arrested during police raids in Coventry.

West Midlands Police organised early-morning raids as part of an operation against drug-dealing in the city.

A spokesman said the operation had taken months to plan and had been prompted by concerned residents asking police to take action.

Supt Mark Robinson, who led the operation, promised anonymity to people giving information to the police.

He said: "I would stress that.. all the officers that work here in Coventry will give them that.

"The vast, vast majority of intelligence and information we have is anonymous and will always remain so.

"We use it in such a way so as to protect the informant in the first instance."

There was huge a commotion in one of the flats above me just after six this morning but whether it anything to do with the above raids I have no idea?

When I walk the dog in the early hours I often see local police massing, most likely for a raid. But rarely do I see anything in the news.

Yep, this is my neighbour's flat!

It was still dark when the raid took place. Loud noises in the middle of the night are not exactly unusual around here so don't usually attract attention. On this occasion I thought the whole building or at least a scaffolding tower had collapsed. There has been a lot of building work on the block recently.

Both the front door and window had been smashed in when I went out to take a look later. Repair crews and a housing manager from Whitefriars were there all day.

Just to stress there was no obvious sign of drugs activity from that particular address prior to the raid as far as I could tell.

Perhaps the winning lotto ticket was in there and they were using the "drugs raid" as a cover story :?: ;)
