A mini-housing estate plan has been revealed for part of former Midland Quarry in Nuneaton. The section of land off Tuttle Hill had previously been considered for leisure/office use.

But now there are proposals for a residential development of 38 homes. A total of 26 would be houses and 12 apartments with parking.

There would also be the formation of a new access road off Arrow Road to serve the housing development. An outline application has been submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

It states that the development forms part of the ongoing regeneration of the Camp Hill area. "Fundamentally the proposal is to put more residential development into an area where residential development exists.

"There will therefore be no real change in terms of social context," the application states. "The size and scale of additional development is unlikely to have a detrimental impact on the existing infrastructures."

It goes on to explain: "The development of this site represents an opportunity to make efficient use of land that is no longer able to fulfil the obligations that were originally intended, whilst simultaneously reinvigorating the former disused quarry. The nature, scale and density of the proposed development needs to be such as to relate to the surrounding residential developments and to contribute to the Tuttle Hull street scene.

"The buildings will be used for residential use only. A proportion of the units will be affordable housing and will be offered either for rent or shared ownership (mix yet to be agreed), to meet the significant need already established for this kind of accommodation identified in the area. The amount of units for affordable housing is yet to be agreed."
