Some local councils have announced changes to their bin collection days to mark the historic funeral of the Queen. Coventry residents will see no change to their usual bin collections, the local authority confirmed.

Coventry City Council said collections will not be affected in the city as bins are usually collected between Tuesday and Friday each week.

Queen Elizabeth II will be laid to rest on Monday, September 19, which means there will be no change to scheduled collections which will go ahead in the days following the funeral.

However, there will be slight changes to collections in Nuneaton and Bedworth. Households who normally have a Monday collection have been told not to put their bins out.

Instead, their collection will be Saturday, September 17. Residents will have to put their bins out by 7am that morning, to ensure collection, the local council said.

A spokesman for the local authority said: “ Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has confirmed that no waste disposal, recycling collections or garden waste collections will take place on the day of the funeral of Her Majesty the Queen, Monday 19 September. Instead, collections due that day will take place on Saturday, September 17.

“Householders affected by this change are requested to present their bins for collection on Saturday by 7am that morning, to ensure collection.”
