Police say the 19-year-old boy was found injured on Radford Road
An investigation has been launched after a teenager was found with significant head injuries in Coventry. Police say the 19-year-old is in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.
Officers say the young man was found near a bus stop by the fire station on Radford Road last Wednesday (June 1), but details have only now been released. He is described as 6ft 4ins tall, of slim build with shoulder-length blonde hair and a ginger beard.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area at around 10.30pm to 11pm. They believe any witnesses could hold 'vital information' about how the teenager was injured.
They say officers have been able to speak to the teen as well as reviewing CCTV from the area as they work to establish exactly what happened. A spokesman for Coventry Police said: “It's a busy road so we'd also ask anyone with dashcam to have a look and let us know if it has captured anything of significance. Please get in contact with us via Live Chat at west-midlands.co.uk, or call 101, quoting investigation 20/487394/22.”

Gemma Mason said her son remains in hospital after the brutal assault on Radford Road
A mum-of-four has been left utterly devastated after her teenage son, who had celebrated his birthday just days before, was brutally attacked on a busy street in Coventry. Gemma Mason spoke of the devastating impact the attack has had on her son as well as her family.
Gemma believes her 19-year-old son was struck by an object from behind which means he has little to no recollection of the assault. She said: “It looks as though someone attacked him when he was waiting for the bus outside the fire station on Radford Road.”
She added: “It looks like someone hit him with something hard, I am not sure what it was and took his mobile phone.”
Disgustingly, the attacker or attackers are believed to have attempted to sell his mobile phone the day after the assault.
Gemma told CoventryLive her son suffered significant head injuries which could be life-changing. She explained that her son is suffering from hearing loss and vision impairment following the assault.
She said: “He is still in hospital. His skull is fractured in multiple places, but he is so much better than what he was. He managed to get out of bed briefly for the first time, but he might have lost his hearing in one ear.
"He still cannot hear in his ear and his vision is still quite blurry.”
Gemma recalled the night police knocked on her door to deliver the devastating news that her son had been brutally assaulted. “Police knocking on a parent’s door is just your biggest fear I think, so their initial words to me were ‘It is not life-threatening, but it might be life-changing’.
"I think I just went into a state of shock to be honest.”
Gemma also wanted to express her deepest gratitude to the passer-by who quickly rang emergency services to get help for her son. She said that she cannot thank them enough for their help on the night of the attack.
Although incredibly difficult, the mum-of-four is trying to 'stay strong' for her son with the support of her family. She said: “I am just trying to be strong for him. He has got two sisters and a brother as well, you have to just try and get through it as a family, I guess.”
