Three men and a teenage boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stand-off with police in Tile Hill.

It’s believed the incident happened at Tanyard Farm, a sheltered housing scheme, where police yesterday were spotted blocking off a stretch of road.

Officers confirmed late last night that a teenage boy and his dog were deliberately driven at in Park Hill Drive.

The teenager suffered minor injuries but his dog was seriously injured.

A confrontation took place involving a shotgun, but West Midlands Police said that no shots were fired.

Firearms officers rushed to the scene and three men, aged 20, 49 and 66, as well as a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

Nearby properties were being searched last night and two firearms were recovered.

Man charged after armed stand-off in Coventry has case dismissed

A 20-year-old man has had his case dismissed due to a lack of evidence. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) have discontinued Nial Dalton's case because of "insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction".

Dalton, of no fixed address, was charged back in January following an armed stand-off with police in Tile Hill. He was arrested and later charged with two assaults and dangerous driving.

He appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on January 5, 2022, where his case was sent to trial at Warwick Crown Court. The trial was supposed to start on February 3.

His charge came after West Midlands Police (WMP) were investigating an incident where a man, his teenage son and dog were hit by a car on Park Hill Drive, Eastern Green. Fortunately they both only suffered minor injuries, but the dog was seriously injured

A CPS spokesperson said: ““We have a duty to keep all cases under review and having considered all the available evidence, we determined that our legal test for a prosecution was not met as there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.”
