Police were called to a Coventry pub after reports of a 15-person altercation.

At least five police vehicles attended the scene in Aldermans Green. Officers removed three men for breaching the peace.

According to a local resident, the incident arose among guests at a funeral wake being held at the Old Crown on Tuesday this week.

The resident said: "I heard all the sirens and saw the flashing lights. It's a lovely pub normally and it's nice and quiet around here too, but there has been a funeral today and I think everyone has just had a bit too much to drink and emotions were high."

Police, who were called to the incident at 8.30pm, say they are investigating the matter and will be reviewing CCTV.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to reports of a disorder involving about 15 people at The Old Crown Inn, Aldermans Green Road, Coventry at just after 8.30pm on Tuesday.

"Officers attended and three men were removed for a breach of the peace.

"During enquiries, no offences were reported to officers and no one reported any injuries to us. CCTV footage is being reviewed and investigations are ongoing.

"Anyone with information can let us know via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk, quoting investigation number 20/1795939/21, call 101, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

There was once a West Indian wedding reception in a flat above me where a huge fight broke out - I kid you not - over whether Matt Monro or Celine Dion was the better singer?

I of course did what any civilised person would do
Spoiler:
and waded-in on the side of Matt Monro!
