Drivers have been warned not to let tank go below a quarter full
There are large queues at petrol stations in Coventry today amid fears of a fuel shortage.
This comes after BP, Esso and Tesco all say they are having issues with the supply of petrol and diesel.
The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA), which represents two-thirds of Britain's petrol stations, has warned drivers to keep tanks at least a quarter full.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said, “We’re experiencing high demand for fuel. We’re working closely with our supplier to maintain supply and all our sites continue to receive fuel.”
Queues at the Tesco petrol station in Bedworth have gotten so bad it is having an effect on the town’s traffic in general.
One resident told CoventryLive: “The queues are back to the bingo hall at the junction of Leicester Road and Rye Piece Ringway.
“Not everyone in that queue may be after petrol but they are still stuck.”
A Morrisons spokesperson said: "It is a rapidly moving situation and we are working hard with our suppliers to ensure we can continue to keep all our pumps open and serve our customers."
