Gunshots were fired at a house near a primary school in Cheylesmore in Coventry in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police are investigating the incident which happened at around 3am yesterday (September 12) in Dillotford Avenue.

The shots caused damage to a window of a house near Howes Primary School.

One resident who lives nearby and heard the gunshots said: "I spoke to [the police] when they arrived and they said it was a firework but I said no way."

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "Fortunately no one was injured - however there was damage to a window.

"We conducted forensic analysis and have been speaking to potential witnesses."
