Cath Ward, who worked for Warwickshire Police and was a member of Solihull Cycling Club, died at the scene on the A46 near Bidford-on-Avon.

The collision occurred as she was competing in a time trial on 4 August.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. About 350 people attended the service in Warwick.

'Very caring'

Several fellow cyclists arrived at the memorial service at the Collegiate Church of St Mary on their bikes.

The 52-year-old's family has described her as a "very caring and loving wife, mother and sister."

Warwickshire Police has also said she earned two national awards for the force and they were "greatly saddened" by what happened.

She took up cycling two years ago and was the fastest female time-trialist at Solihull Cycling Club. She joined Warwickshire Police press office in 1995.
