The cordon stretches to BetFred and a forensics van is also parked close to where Store 21 used to be.

Man stabbed in Nuneaton town centre

Police have confirmed a man was stabbed in an alleyway in Nuneaton town centre.

Warwickshire Police have finally released a statement on why a huge cordon has been in place in Queens Road.

Detectives have said that around 5pm yesterday (August 31), a man in his 20s was involved in an altercation in an alleyway off Queens Road.

The victim suffered a stab injury to his back.

Officers have said the injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition at this time.

Detective Inspector Ollie Deakin said: “Investigations are in the early stages but as part of our ongoing enquiries, the town centre was cordoned off yesterday evening.

“At this time it is believed the victim and suspects were known to each other."

He went on to ask for the public's help, saying: “We’d appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward or anyone with information that they think could help to get in touch.

“Any information, no matter how small, could assist our investigation.”
