A woman was forced to the ground and seriously sexually assaulted while jogging in Coventry.
Police said the 37-year-old woman was jogging down a tarmac path through Coundon Wedge on Saturday afternoon when a man approached her from behind.
The woman screamed and two members of the public rushed to help her causing the man to run off.
The man is described as possibly Eastern European, in his 20s, with dark hair and wearing black top and bottoms.
Police are describing the incident as a sexual assault and attempted rape and want anyone with information to contact them.
Det Sgt Ryan Chambers from West Midlands Police said: "Attempted stranger rapes are very rare, particularly ones like this in the middle of the day.
"There were a lot of people in the park over the weekend, walking dogs, out with families or jogging and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack or seen a man of this description in the area on that day."
