This was the scene as over a dozen police officers descended on a mass gathering on a Coventry street last night.

At least eight vehicles and nearly 20 officers can be seen breaking up the party on Henley Road in Wood End which was in breach of current Covid-19 restrictions.

In the process of clearing the group, said to be around 100-strong by one witness, an officer was assaulted suffering facial and leg injuries.

The video at the top of this article shows groups of people milling around with the large police presence gathered on one side of the road.

Traffic is crawling past the scene with at least eight police vehicles parked up along the road.

Emergency services were called to an address on Henley Road just after 8pm yesterday (May 27).

Officers attended and attempted to clear the premises asking people to leave.

As people began to disperse and left the address, one police officer was assaulted by one of the attendees.

He suffered facial and leg injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

A 31-year-old man was arrested today (May 28) on suspicion of assaulting an officer. A 29-year-old man has also been arrested for obstructing an officer.

Both men remain in police custody for questioning.

West Midlands Police said they will pursue breach action against the occupant of the house and continue to monitor the area.
