Primark is reportedly set to close during the coronavirus pandemic - meaning the store located in Coventry city centre will not be opening tomorrow.

The affordable clothes store will shut all UK stores tonight and they will not re-open tomorrow, reports MirrorOnline.

According to the Financial Times, Associated British Foods Plc, which owns the retail giant, intends to close stores from Sunday night after cancelling all new orders from suppliers as demand shrinks due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Paul Marchant, Primark chief executive, called the cancellations "unprecedented action" in "unimaginable times".

Primark would be the latest in a long list of stores closing their doors to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, John Lewis announced that all of its stores would shut from the end of the day tomorrow.

Other stores have also recently closed in Coventry city centre, such as Topshop and New Look.

A number of eateries have also shut up shop, with many in West Orchards only open for takeaways.

B&Q was still open last night although hardly anyone was there.

With what the government have announced by way of a compensation package, it simply doesn't pay many stores to remain open. The likes of Philip Green, whose retail empires are under financial pressure, are rubbing their hands in glee.
