Boss Shoes, in Tile Hill, will close down when stocks run out. The independent shoe shop specialises in end-of-line and factory seconds, well-known in Coventry for selling brand shoes at a discount.

Since setting up in 1987, Boss Shoes sold footwear and bags from a unit on Binns Close, Tile Hill.

The challenges of retail and the firm’s move to online commerce have led to the closure.

In a post to followers on social media, owners Gerry and Hazel Hall said: “As a family we have decided to downsize the business after 32 wonderful years.

“The shop will remain open for a limited time while sale stocks last. We will be adding new stock in every day until sold out.

“We would like to say a big thank you to our loyal and dedicated staff, who have worked hard to help us run the business. We couldn’t have done it without them.

“We would also like to thank all our lovely customers for supporting our family business. We have made a lot of friends and have got to know a lot of customer’s families through the generations in the past 32 years.

“Please remember to support other precious remaining independent retailers to make the high street an interesting and vibrant place to shop.”

The couple also said their children Ben and Amy Hall will continue to trade online via ishoe.co.uk.
