A cafe which has been serving customers in Coventry city centre for a decade has closed its doors.

The Amber Caffe, a mainstay on Market Way, posted a note to "loyal" customers in the window thanking them for their custom.

The note added that the business was in liquidation.

The retail unit, which is now standing empty, has been brought back to market and is available to let.

A notice to customers of the Amber Caffe has been posted on its doors, reading: "Customer notice. Amber Caffe is in liquidation and has now ceased trading.

"On behalf of Amber Caffe, the management would like to thank all its' loyal, wonderful and colourful customers for your custom and friendship over the past 10 years - you will all be sadly missed."

It is unclear when the cafe shut its doors for the final time.

Manchester (a retail leader) rushed into lots of small eateries. It all turned to the smelly sticky brown stuff. Coventry seems to be heading the same way.

I still think that what we've done with Cathedral Lanes will turn into a short term flash-in-the-pan.
