It leaves just one branch in Coventry
A major bank is set to close one of its branches in Coventry this summer - dealing a blow to the city centre.
The Halifax Bank on Market Way will be closing down in August, with customers urged to visit their other city centre branch .
Signs posted in the branch windows revealed the news, and the company has since confirmed the closure.
Halifax says the closure is due to the changing ways that customers choose to bank, preferring to use online services.
Located in the shadows underneath the soon-to-be demolished Coventry Point tower block, the Halifax Bank occupies the unit once home to Burger King - which closed in 2007.
And now, Halifax joins the fast food restaurant in leaving Market Way - though it does still have a branch on the High Street .
In addition to apologising to customers, the poster in the branch window advises customers that along with the nearby Coventry High Street Halifax, the nearest branches are at The Square in Kenilworth, and Abbey Street in Nuneaton.
The branch will close at 5pm on Wednesday August 21.
It is not yet known if there will be any job losses as a result of the closure.
