Pursuing officers were bombarded by items from the car
Items including an immersion heater, an engine and a lump hammer were thrown at police during a chase through Coventry.
West Midlands Police say its officers were "bombarded" by those inside a suspected stolen van after the pursuit began in Sampson Close, Bell Green, on Monday morning (May 27).
In their bid for freedom, those in the van threw the items - which also included a tool box and cans of food - before the vehicle was stopped by a stinger in Almond Tree Avenue, Aldermans Green, around 25 minutes later.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The van had been recognised by an ANPR camera, having been involved in two crimes in the Warwickshire area.
"It was identified in Sampson Close, Coventry, at 11.45am yesterday (Monday, May 27) and a police pursuit ensued until the van was finally brought to a halt by a stinger in Almond Tree Avenue at 12.10pm.
"Three men, ages 25, 26 and 29 were arrested and remain in police custody."

I have lifted car engines out on my own, I just put a strap under the engine and lift..Not to difficult. To throw one is a different ball game altogether.
