A delivery driver has issued a warning to others in Bedworth after being mugged at knifepoint by four youths.

Andrew Cave was walking home from work along the footpath at the back of Bedworth cemetery towards Park Road when he was surrounded by the group at around 9.15pm yesterday, Thursday, March 21.

One of them pulled a curved blade that was around five inches long on him and demanded he hand over his wallet and phone.

The 26-year-old delivery driver at the Chick King chippy told CoventryLive he wanted to make others aware of the danger.

He added: "A lad came from behind me and he asked me if I had any pills and then he just stared at me.

"I turned around and there was another three lads behind me.

"They surrounded me so I couldn't go anywhere.

"The lad who confronted me, he drew out a knife with a curved blade that was about four of five inches long and said 'Just make it quick and easy and give me all your stuff'.

"I gave him my phone and my wallet. I had my house keys in my pocket and my mum and dad were at work so I was worried they'd take them.

"I don't know if he was intending to use the knife, it was just the fact that young lads were hanging around with a knife and must have been waiting around for someone.

"I'm not bothered about the phone of the wallet, it didn't have much money in, but I wanted to warn others."

Andrew called the police and reported the crime after being given a lift to his mum's place of work by a good samaritan.
