OAP shoplifter stole 15 bottles of vodka

Sun Feb 17, 2019 4:12 pm

A shoplifter was caught stealing £240 worth of vodka from a city supermarket - at the age of 66

Pensioner Robert Wilshire tried his best to get away with 15 bottles of vodka from Morrisons but was caught in the act.

He was charged in connection with the incident on October 18 last year and Wilshire, of Heera Close, Foleshill, admitted the theft when he appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to provide a sample for drug testing.

The punishment deemed suitable for his crimes by magistrates was a community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement and a fine of £80.

On top of that he was made to pay £135 towards the courts costs and an £85 victim surcharge, which goes toward supporting victims of crime.

Would have been interesting to read the details of how he proposed to get away with it or even which particular Morrison's store it was since there is more than one?

From where he lives near Locust Lane I would of thought it was the Morrisons in Holbrooks.

That just goes to show Melisandre, I didn't even know there was a Morrison's in Holbrooks!

He'll now be banned from using that store and it's a very long walk to the next one.
