A killer who murdered a "lonely" and "vulnerable" man in his own flat has been handed a life sentence.

Jonathan Cramp was found guilty on December 19 of murdering Julian Perry at his home in Adelaide Court, Croft Pool, Bedworth, in June this year.

Mr Perry, who suffered from mental health issues, died from multiple injuries following a 'brutal and sustained' attack by Cramp.

A judge today sentenced Cramp, of no fixed address but residing in Nuneaton, to life behind bars with a minimum sentence of 18 years and 200 days.
What happened

The body of Mr Perry, 39, was found in Adelaide Court on June 23, 2018.

Cramp was arrested the following day after officers placed him at the scene at the time of the incident.

Officers from the Warwickshire Police Major Investigation Unit uncovered CCTV footage of Cramp going to Julian's address on the night of the incident and seized Cramp's clothes that had Julian's blood on them.

Mr Perry, who suffered from mental health issues, died from multiple injuries following a 'brutal and sustained' attack by Cramp.

Cramp admitted having an altercation with Julian but said that he was acting in self defence.

The jury disagreed and found him guilty of murder.
