Petrol there is around 10p a litre cheaper than supermarkets
Coventry could be about to get extremely cheap fuel - with the opening of a new Costco petrol station
The wholesaler could be opening pumps in the city if planning permission is approved for a forecourt at its existing warehouse site in Tile Hill.
This means residents in Coventry could get petrol around 10 pence per litre cheaper than supermarkets.
There are currently 13 other Costco petrol stations in England, but none of them are manned.
The nearest one to Coventry at the moment is Birmingham.
Costco is the second biggest retailer in the world after Walmart, with 731 branches throughout the world and 28 in the UK.
There will be one catch with filling up at the Torrington Avenue location.
You have to be a Costco member to be able to purchase the fuel.
The fuel station is entirely self-serve, with pay-at-the-pump technology.
Customers are also unable to pay with cash, with Costco saying it is quicker and their members have a shorter wait if cash and cheques are eliminated.
Coventrians have to wait a little longer though to get cheap fuel, as planning permission for the forecourt has only just been submitted to Coventry City Council.
But it will be worth the wait because a thread on a MoneySavingExpert forum, says people can get petrol between 10 and 15 per cent cheaper than supermarkets.
